However, the sales of hybrid vehicles have been sluggish, due to the high price of these vehicles and general consumers’ preference for larger vehicles. The year 2009 may be regarded as the first year of the era of the EV. Mitsubishi and Subaru launched their EVs. Nissan Motor celebrated the announcement of its EV, Leaf, at the new head-office building in Yokohama. Just as conventional automobiles cannot live without gas stations, EVs require the charging infrastructure. Enterprises and governments are seriously engaged in the development and implementation of it.
